Hawaii Institute of Healthcare and Training Services (H I H T S) is home to more than 1,600 students in different healthcare training and careers. Instilled with its spirited mission and vision, the legacy of its founder continues to build and create healthcare professionals in the community.

Leadership, Excellence, Integrity

Graduates from H I H T S are grounded from the concepts of becoming good leaders of excellence and integrity in their chosen field. This is best exemplified by its many and successful graduates employed in long term care facilities, clinics, schools and various home and health care agencies.

ITS Humble Beginnings

Founded in 2004, it was a corporation named Hawaii Health Care Institute (HHCI). During this period, the sole and main short term training program is the Nurse Assistant Training. At the end of 2004, HHCI graduated forty five (45) successful nurse assistants.

With the strong support of the community and other local agencies such as the Workforce Development, Alulike and the previous Mayor Harry Kim’s office, the goal over the next year seen an increased enrollment for the Nurse Aide Program.

In 2006, the Nurse Assistant Training program was approved and certified by the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services, Med-Quest Division.

Name Change

In January 1, 2010, Hawaii Health Care Institute changed its name to Hawaii Health Care & Training Services (H I H T S). New healthcare courses had been added to its existing curriculum, the Nurse Assistant Training. Among the courses are: Phlebotomy, Medical Administrative Assistant and Medical Billing and Coding. The following year, the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certified and approved the newly created curriculum.

H I H T S is proud of its increased and diversed enrollment educating students with professionalism in healthcare leadership.
With the name change, H I H T S is showcasing its strength through a new era- building new careers to “create healthcare professionals” through short term training.

The mission, vision, legacy and reputation of Leadership, Excellence and Integrity always remains.


Hawaii Institute of Healthcare & Training Services, (HIHTS) was created to educate and train its students to become professional LEADERS in providing EXCEPTIONAL, and ethical care with the highest principles of INTEGRITY in their chosen career.


To be recognized as the prime health care training center and to become the foundation for new professional careers in the health care and other training industries.

Our Staff

Our staff includes Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Certified Nurse Assistants (C N A), Phlebotomy Technicians who are well versed in their areas of specialization. Our staff are very helpful and friendly in assisting our students throughout their course.

National Certification

Employers are looking for the BEST and the Brightest. H I H T S offers the student an option to get certified. Certification demonstrated commitment to your field and could provide a competitive edge to job searching. It may also improve your potential earnings, career opportunities and advancement.

Certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) is offered by H I H T S on-site.

C N A Regional Testing Center

H I H T S became the regional testing center for nurse assistants in 2013. An evidence for its excellence and integrity, H I H T S can also compete with its other constituents.

Our goal is to help our graduates get a well rounded training through our short term programs in order to be employed immediately.
